Cobá
Coba
was a city of the Mayan Empire located southeast of Mexico in the area
now occupied by the State of Quintana Roo, about ninety miles east of
Chichen Itza and forty northwest of Tulum.
The
possible significance of Coba could be "cob" means "something that has
moisture and moss" and "A" or "ha" meaning "water", meaning "water
moss" or "wetness of water, another possibility it is not excluded that means 'muddy water' by proximity to a small lake with a very murky color.
Other
authors researchers from the National Institute of Anthropology and
History, however, offer slightly different translation to the term '
"Coba"', among which may be mentioned "chachalacas water" for "cob" is
the name of that bird from the region, "gopher tooth" also from the Mayan "coh" tooth and "bah", gopher or "heavy water" to "cob, abundance and" has "water.
